
Serengeti National Park is famous for staging one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife and nature events – the great wildebeest migration. The Serengeti ecosystem comprises of 15,000 square kilometres surrounded by conservation areas and game reserves, creating one of the greatest and most varied collection of wildlife on earth. Its endless plains make prime grazing for millions of wildebeest and zebra for nine months of the year, with accompanying predators on show! Kopje rock formations are another signature of the Serengeti and an impressive sight amongst the grass plains.

Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square kilometres of grass and flood plains, acacia woodland and dense bush, south of the plains of southern Maasailand. Dominated by the Tarangire River, the area thrives in the dry season from July to October when masses of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and giraffe migrate to the valley floor. Resident predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah enjoy these feast times and large herds of elephant also join the scene with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo and fringe-eared oryx.
The appeal of Tarangire National Park lies not only in the herds of migrating animals but also in the beauty of the landscape with its grand baobabs and acacia trees. Tarangire is an excellent safari location with a unique atmosphere of its own, providing a wonderful safari experience.

The amphitheatre of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera of Ngorongoro forms a spectacular bowl of 265 square kilometres with walls up to 600 metres high. Ngorongoro is home to around 20,000 to 30,000 wild animals and provides a rare chance to view black rhino in the wild. Water springs enable the wildlife to remain within the Crater and it’s known for a large population of lions and hyena, together with the variety of wildlife that east Africa displays. On the lake in the middle of the crater you may see thousands of flamingos, fluttering and shimmering like a pink heat haze.

Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by famed novelist Ernest Hemingway as the “loveliest I had seen in Africa”. This shallow lake at the base of the Great Rift Valley attracts flocks of flamingos to its alkaline waters. Noted for its excellent birding, butterflies and tree climbing lions, Manyara also has a great diversity of wildlife including elephants, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, hippo and baboons. The habitat is varied with grassy floodplains and thick acacia woodland contrasting with the rocky escarpments of the Rift backdrop.

The Selous is the largest protected wildlife area in Africa, bigger than Switzerland, and with few tourists. It is a UN World Heritage Site, the lagoons, sandbanks and lakes of the Rufiji River and surrounding forests create an exciting ecological environment for safaris.
The spectrum of wildlife is diverse, with east and southern African fauna, including 440 species of birds and a healthy population of rare wild dogs. The Selous is an exclusive safari experience for the lover of nature and tranquil wilderness areas.

Tanzania’s second largest national park, Ruaha, combines well with Selous to provide a unique southern safari. Its dry red-earth vistas are studded with ancient baobabs and irrigated by the rocky meanderings of the Great Ruaha River.
This landscape supports one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, plentiful lion prides and thriving packs of African hunting dogs. Leopard sightings are frequent, wonderful antelope action abounds and the park is a birdwatcher’s delight.
The closest national park to Arusha town, northern Tanzania’s safari capital, Arusha National Park is a multi-faceted jewel, allowing the visitor to explore a diversity of habitats within a few hours. The majestic snow-capped peaks of distant Mount Kilimanjaro are visible but it is Kilimanjaro’s unassuming cousin, Mount Meru, the fifth highest in Africa at 4,566 metres, that dominates the park’s horizon.
Giraffes glide across the grassy hills, between grazing zebra herds, the scene is enhanced by flamingo filled lakes. Montane forest inhabited by the inquisitive blue monkey with black-and-white colobus monkey, together with colourful birdlife of turacos and trogons, give Arusha national park it’s unique place in northern Tanzania.


Magical “spice island” of Zanzibar offers a perfect exotic beach extension to any Tanzanian safari. Enjoy the day doing as much or as little as you please. You may like to take an optional trip to explore the old Stone Town, a spice farm or Jozani Forest to see the Red colobus monkey which is endemic to Zanzibar. Alternatively you may prefer to just relax at your resort, spending time on the beach or pamper yourself at the resort spa. There is also a water sports centre for snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing or canoeing and a licensed PADI dive centre.
Tanzania is superbly placed to combine a first class safari with a few days on white sandy beaches and turquoise waters of the Indian ocean. Zanzibar is a short flight from the mainland and are very easily combined with virtually any part of Tanzania.
